FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a public charity founded in 1989. Based in Manchester, New Hampshire, it’s recognized as the world’s leading not-for-profit STEM engagement program for kids. Each year, they host the FIRST Robotics Competition for high school students.

The Challenge: Organized Transport

FIRST needed a solution to help winning robotics teams across the country deliver their equipment to the competition. Teams had typically been finding their own ways to transport their equipment, renting trucks and driving them across the country themselves.

THE PODS SOLUTION: LOGISTICS SUPPORT

PODS developed a scalable solution with FIRST that allowed teams across the U.S. to load their equipment into containers at a local PODS Storage Center. The containers were then delivered to a single, centralized location near the venue, where teams and volunteers offloaded everything into the event site.

PODS’ personalized logistics support, which combined storage and transportation in one solution, meant FIRST team members didn’t have to deal with the inconvenience of renting trucks to drive their equipment across the country.
